Whether it is an unpaid invoice for a service rendered or a product sold, when an individual owes you money you can take them to court either for breaking a contract (if one exists) or for unjust enrichment.
Exactly which court to take them to will depend on the amount of money owing. As of January 2020, the Small Claims Court in Ontario has jurisdiction to hear matters involving $35,000.00 or less. For amounts greater than $35,000.00, you can proceed in the Superior Court of Justice.
Powell Litigation regularly represents its clients in both the Small Claims Court and the Superior Court of Justice. For more information, call us today at (647) 360-7147.
